Resident Evil: Revelations 2 leaked

by ‘Brian’ Images discovered on the official Xbox website have revealed the existence of Resident Evil: Revelations 2. First, the Xbox website hosts the Revelations 2 box art above. There’s also a single screenshot located on the same “download.xbox” domain. The box art indicates that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be on the Xbox 360, but it’ll likely end up on the PlayStation 3 and PC as well. PS4 and Xbox One versions would not be at all surprising either. http://www.gamersoutpost.net/

Sony Has A New Feature Coming For The PS4 That’s Going Bury The Xbox One

by Dave Smith Amid all the exciting announcements coming out of last week’s Gamescom trade show in Cologne, Germany, Sony announced a handful of new features coming in its 2.0 firmware for PlayStation 4. And while firmware is rarely anything to get excited about, this particular update is different — because it will effectively help Sony put distance between itself and Microsoft’s Xbox One. Sony’s PlayStation 4 has outsold the console competition for seven straight months now, with PS4 sales roughly double that of Xbox One sales worldwide, according to Metro. But with this new update, the PS4 is about to become a much more powerful and user-friendly gaming platform. The big reason? “Share Play,” which was promised when Sony […]

Uncharted 4′s Nathan Drake Looks Different, Now Looks a Lot Like a Certain Actor

by Gaf Hussain With each iteration of Uncharted, Nathan Drake appears to looks slightly different. He originally was compared with Nathan Fillion, leading to rumors (or more like hopes) that the Firefly actor would eventually play the treasure hunter and adventurer Nathan Drake in a movie. However, in Uncharted 4, Nathan Drake looks like a different person yet again, and he looks more like a famous Hollywood actor. Could Naughty Dog have done the same thing they did with The Last of Us and accidentally create a main character that looks like a real life actor? Or are they doing this intentionally so when a film is announced, they already have an actor who slots right in? We couldn’t help […]

Why PS1 and PS2 discs on PS4 doesn’t sound so crazy

by Daniel Sims   Editor’s Note from Jason Wilson: Since rumors suggested Sony might bring PS1 and PS2 emulation to the PS4, some suggested even running old discs might be possible. It might sound impossible to many, but it really isn’t. Eurogamer’s January report about the possibility of Sony using software emulation to get original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games playable on the PlayStation 4, instead of streaming through the PlayStation Now service, has had some people giddy all year. Some of these folk have been talking online about how Sony could make old PS1 and PS2 discs work on the PS4 — and while it might be easy to write this off as fanboys, it’s could happen. And depending on how the […]

The Witcher 3′s PS4/Xbox One Optimization Going Better than Expected; Differences with PC Explained

by Giuseppe Nelva The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most anticipated titles for the beginning of next year, and many are wondering how it’ll hold up on consoles compared to PC. We had a chance to chat with Viausl Effects Artists Jose Teixeira at Gamescom, and he gave us some more color on the issue. Teixeira explained that the screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) will be slightly different, the water in the ocean won’t have the same advanced tassellation, and there are other “tiny little sacrifices” that “hopefully won’t make a huge visual impact” but will give a big performance advantage. He also mentioned that optimization on consoles is going a lot better than expected from the […]

My Personal History of SEGA

by L.W. Barker The SEGA of my childhood was a great company and the single competitor to the “Big N” aka Nintendo. This is my personal history of SEGA in the years before Sony and when Nintendo ruled the World! 1986 I worked for the summer at Woolworth’s department store in Brooklyn, New York City (NYC) with one goal in mind—to acquire enough cash to buy the SEGA Master System. I worked that store for a few weeks, stocking merchandise and cutting up boxes on the sales floor and down in the basement level. It was hard work for a teenager, but I did it and quit after a few paychecks—walking out of Macy’s that year with my SEGA Master […]

Recent insider rumblings have confirmed comments directly from the developers of the game which to put it bluntly: “We have already downgraded a few things.” Okay, let’s get a handle on this […]

Lets Throw Resolution Out The Window And Focus On Gameplay!

by L.W. Barker Gameplay—what a concept. When did we lose our focus on it and let resolution take its place? We may never know, however, this concept of resolution is a waste of our hard earned time. I’m a so called “old school gamer”, and back in the day, games were played for their fun factor. In the 80s and 90s, Nintendo and Sega’s gaming machines dominated our living rooms as well as the Arcades, and it was the gameplay that made them great! Fast forward 20+ years—games are sadly bought and played not for their fun factor and overall gameplay, but for how they look. As long as a game has nice, 1080p graphics, and is running at a smooth 60fps, its […]

Creative Assembly Wants You To Have “Long, Meaningful Encounters” With Their Alien

by L.W. Barker The team at Creative Assembly are hard at work on their latest game, ‘Alien: Isolation’. The game’s graphics, and music score have already gone through various changes—an effort by the team to please fans of the hugely popular Alien franchise. Now they are focusing their skills on the design of the in-game Alien character’s legs. As Lead Audio Designer, Mark Angus explained, “We’ve tried out many different varieties of design to see which one works best for the game,”  “if we had produced an alien that looked 100% like the original film’s and walked like a mummy, there’d be just as many complaints…we want you to have long, meaningful encounters with our Alien, and so the design […]

CASH COW ALERT! Bungie’s ‘Destiny’ Seen As Next ‘Call of Duty’ Franchise

by L.W. Barker Even though the Call of Duty franchise has seen a new game released to it on a yearly basis, the majority of the gaming community has still not tired of it. This has allowed Activision to remain at the top of the first person shooter pile for almost a decade. Now with the success of ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’, the latest game in the series, Activision’s President and CEO Bobby Kotick has told investors that ‘Destiny’, the upcoming title from Bungie, the creators of Halo, could be Activision’s “next billion dollar franchise.” Per Kotick, “My colleagues and I expect that Destiny will become the best selling new video game IP in history when it launches across Xbox […]

‘The Order: 1886’ Looks Better Than ‘Infamous: Second Son’ And More Like A Movie.

by L.W. Barker The Order: 1886 is turning out to be quite a game. Today, Sony’s Product Manager of PlayStation Spain, known only by his twitter name ‘Angel’, tweeted some interesting comments. Per him, “The game looks so good that it resembles a movie. The graphics look incredible. I prefer it over Infamous: Second Son, even though they are both different games. However, for us, 1886 is a GOTY candidate.” These are indeed powerful words and yet another example of Ready At Dawn putting its programming heart, soul and muscle into ensuring that ‘The Order: 1886’ turns out to be a triple A blockbuster. http://www.gamersoutpost.net The hype machine around The Order 1886 just keeps pumping. Today it’s the turn of […]
