This Sealed Super Mario Bros. Could Become The Most Expensive Video Game Collectable Ever

Eclipsing even the Nintendo PlayStation by Damien McFerran, Nintendo Life Remember last year, when we reported that a sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. on the NES sold for an eye-watering $114,000 at auction? Well, there’s another copy being auctioned at the moment which currently stands at $310,000 – and it still has seven days remaining before the auction closes. Assuming that the price rises in the next few days, there’s a very real chance that a copy of one of the most common NES games will become the most expensive video game collectable of all time, surpassing even the Nintendo PlayStation – of which there is currently only one known unit on the open market. For the sake of comparison, there are 40.24 million copies of Super […]

Cyberpunk 2077 Is Not Selling Great On Console

by Ethan Gach, Kotaku Cyberpunk 2077‘s console launch was a disaster, and sure enough sales on console now seem to reflect that, with the game tumbling off of last month’s best seller list according to the latest report by the NPD market research group. Even the nearly four-year-old Switch exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold better. Cyberpunk 2077 sank to the 18 spot on NPD’s list of the January 2021’s best selling games, down from the number two spot in December, the month it released. That puts it right below Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition, which was number 17, and right above Super Mario Party for Switch, which was number 19. Here’s the full list: 1. Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War 2. […]

Former Halo Devs Are Reinventing Controversial Shooter, Six Days In Fallujah

Arriving for consoles this year by Fraser Gilbert, Pure Xbox Well, here’s something we never thought we’d see again! The game is a first-person tactical military shooter that “recreates true stories of Marines, Soldiers, and Iraqi civilians who fought Al Qaeda during the toughest urban battle since 1968.” Players will reportedly lead a fireteam through real-life encounters enabled by unique technology that simulates the uncertainty and tactics of urban combat. Working on the project is developer Highwire Games, whose co-creators include Jaime Griesemer, former lead designer on Halo and Destiny, and Marty O’ Donnell, […]

We could see some news for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 this week

Chris Carter, Destructoid If you could measure thirst, the wait for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 would be an ocean. It’s in a very unique position, to be sure. If the first Final Fantasy VII Remake bit bombed in every way, there probably wouldn’t even be a follow-up. But it was good! And it sold! So everyone is anxiously awaiting Part 2 for any number of reasons, which is definitely happening. A lot of us are curious as to how the team could possibly adapt the open world structure; a stark contrast to the more linear, yet personal Midgar setting. But for now, we can only speculate, as Square Enix hasn’t given us one iota of real info on Part 2. That could […]

Anthem’s fate reportedly to be decided by EA this week

Is it worth expanding the team? Or is time to dump the game altogether? By Imogen Beckhelling, Rock Paper Shotgun Oh Anthem. The only BioWare game even I can’t defend. BioWare’s attempt at a Destiny-style online multiplayer game crashed and burned when it launched back in 2019, and the developers have made an effort to reboot and improve it ever since. In May last year, they announced Anthem Next, which sounds like its biggest overhaul yet. But now even Next’s future is uncertain. A new report claims BioWare’s parent company, Electronic Arts, will decide this week whether or not it’s worth trying to revive Anthem at all. According to Bloomberg, EA will hold a meeting this week to determine the game’s fate. They […]

Ubisoft Makes Assassin’s Creed Game Free for Limited Time

by Tyler Fischer, Comic Book Ubisoft has made an Assassin’s Creed game free, for some at least. Since Assassin’s Creed debuted back in 2007, Ubisoft hasn’t just added to it with a metric ton of mainline games, but it’s released spin-offs and put the series through a few stints of experimentation, which is how the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles sub-series was born. Fast-forward to today, and one of these games is now free for players. More specifically, and for a limited time, PC players, via Uplay, can download Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China for free, no strings attached. Unfortunately, if you’re on console — such as PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch — you’re out of luck. Further, if you’re a Steam-only user or prefer the Epic Games Store, you’re […]

Before the end of the year, it delayed the game by two months to March, blaming the coronavirus pandemic for the setback. When it does finally come out, it will be available on PlayStation 4, […]

Cyberpunk 2077 Removes Mod That Let You Bang Keanu Reeves

by Luke Plunkett, Kotaku There was a mod available for Cyberpunk 2077 that let you have sex—or a very unsettling approximation of it—with Keanu Reeves’ character. That mod is gone now. As Eurogamer report, the mod—really just a collection of skins that could be swapped with certain others in the game—let you transform a “Joytoy” sex robot into Reeves’ character Johnny Silverhand, then engage in a very brief, not very graphic sex scene with him (as opposed to Silverhand’s existing sex scenes in the actual game, which are seen from the player’s perspective). It was a pretty rough job, of course, since all it did was swap textures, and not bring over Johnny’s animations or even more importantly voice acting. But it was enough to get […]

Developers say they knew the game wasn’t ready to be released publicly. by Jason Schreier, Bloomberg CD Projekt SA Chief Executive Officer Marcin Iwiński made a public mea culpa this week about the disastrous rollout of the video game Cyberpunk 2077 in December. He took personal responsibility and asked fans not to blame the team.  In a somber five-minute video address and accompanying blog post, Iwiński acknowledged the game “did not meet the quality standard we wanted to meet. I and the entire leadership team are deeply sorry for this.” Iwiński’s apology, the second within a month, was an attempt to restore the Polish company’s reputation with scores of fans – and investors – who had waited eight years for the game, only to […]
